FAQ

Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions. We hope you find the responses helpful in determining the right service Priority can provide for you.

"What are the benefits of Termidor?"
Priority Pest Services utilizes Termidor termite control products because they offer the safest, most effective solution to termite infestation. Termidor is odorless, non- carcinogenic, and harmless to soil micro-organisms, earth worms, plants, and most importantly - harmless to you and your family. This treatment is also cost effective in that it affords a yearly cycle of protection in comparisson to the "bait station" approach, which requires quarterly maintenance.

Termidor kills termites through contact and ingestion. Because Termidor is non-repellent, termites unknowingly ingest the product when they eat. Also, since termites can't detect Termidor, they go about their routine activities. So even if termites are not feeding, Termidor will still kill via contact.

Termidor is applied as a treatment to the soil surrounding existing structures. Traditionally these types of applications are referred to as chemical barriers, although in the case of Termidor, the chemical does not act in the same way as many older chemicals. Rather than a barrier that repels termites, Termidor acts as a non-repellent treated zone, which allows termites to enter and therefore more efficiently killed.

The reason for this is that Termidor is undetectable to termites. Termites will actually enter the treated zone, where Termidor binds to their cuticle. Once this has occurred, it is only a matter of time before they are killed. Termidor’s unique Transfer Effect™ ensures that the Termidor is passed from one termite to the next and as a result even termites that have not directly come into contact with the treated soil can pick up a lethal dose.

"Is moisture control important for my home?"
Moisture control is the common denominator for almost all pest infestation and structural damage. Controlling moisture greatly reduces the possibility of the following: termite problems, wood rot, wood destroying insects, allergens, and foul odors.

"We just bought an inspected home, are we safe from infestation?"
The inspection that your home receives is only for the visible signs of termites. The inspection is not a warranty. So it is possible that your new home has an active infestation in one of the many areas that cannot be inspected.

"My home has a slab foundation.  Is this more or less prone to infestation?"
We believe that slab structures are more prone to termites and their damage because of the welcome environment this type of structure creates. Termites require moisture and prefer to access their food source in a protected area. These factors combined with the fact that none of the sub structure can be inspected are what can increase the chances of termite entry and damage.

"How often should I treat for termites?"
Your home should be treated once initially when setting up your termite control plan and then anytime there after termites are noticed.
